Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the TrustedPets platform operated by TrustedPets Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. By using our platform, you agree to these Terms in full.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using TrustedPets, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any additional terms that apply to specific features.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our platform.

2. User Accounts

  • You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
  • One person may only maintain one account. Creating multiple accounts may result in all accounts being suspended.

3. Breeder Obligations

If you register as a breeder on TrustedPets, you agree to:

  • Submit accurate identity and business documentation for verification.
  • Comply with all applicable UK laws regarding animal breeding and welfare, including the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.
  • Provide accurate, truthful information in all pet listings including breed, age, health status, and pricing.
  • Maintain appropriate breeding standards and living conditions for all animals.
  • Respond to buyer enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Not engage in puppy farming, mass breeding, or any practice that compromises animal welfare.
  • Honour deposits and agreed prices as listed on the platform.

Failure to comply with these obligations may result in immediate removal from the platform and forfeiture of any pending payouts.

4. Buyer Protections

  • All breeders on TrustedPets are verified before they can list. However, we cannot guarantee the health or temperament of any animal.
  • Deposits paid through our platform are held securely by Stripe and are subject to our deposit protection policy.
  • We recommend visiting the breeder and meeting the pet in person before completing a purchase.
  • If you believe a breeder has misrepresented a pet or failed to honour an agreement, you can file a dispute through our support team.
  • We provide mediation services but are not a party to transactions between buyers and breeders.

5. Payments & Fees

  • All payments are processed securely through Stripe. TrustedPets does not store card details.
  • Breeders on paid subscription plans will be charged monthly. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time.
  • TrustedPets charges a commission on completed sales as outlined in our Pricing page.
  • Refunds for deposits are handled on a case-by-case basis through our dispute resolution process.
  • All prices on the platform are in GBP and inclusive of VAT where applicable.

6. Content & Listings

  • You retain ownership of content you upload (photos, descriptions, etc.).
  • By uploading content, you grant TrustedPets a non-exclusive licence to display it on our platform.
  • You must not upload content that is misleading, offensive, or infringes third-party rights.
  • We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or our content guidelines.
  • Pet listings must accurately represent the animal being offered for sale.

7. Messaging

  • Our messaging system is provided for legitimate communication between buyers and breeders.
  • You must not use messaging for spam, harassment, or solicitation of services outside the platform.
  • Messages are stored securely and may be reviewed by our team in response to reported disputes or violations.
  • Attempting to circumvent the platform by sharing external contact details to avoid fees is a violation of these Terms.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • TrustedPets acts as a marketplace platform connecting buyers and breeders. We are not a party to transactions between users.
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy of breeder or pet information beyond our verification process.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the platform shall not exceed the amount you have paid to TrustedPets in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Termination

  • You may close your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting support.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with or without notice.
  • Upon termination, your access to the platform will cease, but we may retain certain data as required by law or outlined in our Privacy Policy.
  • Outstanding financial obligations survive termination.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
